Have you ever wondered what the people behind Paperblanks get up to every day? Did you ever look at a Paperblanks design and wonder, “Hmm, how would this look on my desk?” Well, in this new exclusive blog series, we are diving headfirst into uncovering what our staff have on their desks.

This week we are heading over to the Ecommerce team, where we spoke to Carles, our Ecommerce Advertising Manager. Carles is practically part of the furniture in our Dublin office, having joined the company over four and a half years ago. He began in the Marketing department and later transitioned to the Ecommerce team, where he now helps drive sales in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

When I asked Carles what his day-to-day routine looks like, he told me it’s usually filled with an unlikely combination of numbers and letters. Managing the daily digital advertising of Paperblanks is no small task-it involves navigating different languages, markets, time zones, and user behaviours. There’s a whole infrastructure behind online advertising, as all our campaigns need to be optimized on a weekly basis, and some even daily.

When Carles is not at his desk driving sales and chasing targets, he is part of the social committee in the Dublin office. He ensures that everyone’s birthday is celebrated and that there are tasty treats in the kitchen on Fridays.

Carles uses many Paperblanks essentials to get him through his day. His go-to is the Gaudi, The Manuscript of Reus unlined journal, which he loves for the quality but also his personal connection to Antoni Gaudí as they’re both from Spain! He especially enjoys the unlined interior, which he finds useful for jotting down notes during meetings or writing quick reminders for his tasks. “They are the highest quality!” he said.

In addition to his journal, Carles uses a Paperblanks pen loop, which he attaches to his journal, to make sure he always has a pen handy. He also mentioned using multiple Paperblanks bookmarks for the books he’s reading outside of work.

When I asked Carles about other daily essentials, I already had a guess, and I was right. His green Stanley cup accompanies him to every meeting.  “You’ve got to stay hydrated!” he said. Other must-haves include his AirPods, glasses, chocolate, and face cream.

I also asked, “Is there anything on his desk that has a story behind it?” After some thought, he mentioned his ring, a gift he received when he was nine years old, after his first communion. He now wears his ring on his little finger.

From gorgeous Gaudi to authentic advertising, we thank Carles for giving us insight into his Paperblanks Daily Desk essentials. Next week we are heading over to Sales, where Amy tells us about the products she couldn’t live without.
