Poetry in Bloom
A celebration of the creative spirit, this bestselling cover design is a reproduction of a 1910 book binding that housed The Sensitive Plant and Early Poems by Percy Bysshe Shelley.
The book found its way into The New York Public Library from the shelves of book enthusiast W.A. Spencer, and we couldn’t help but see its creativity flourish off the page.
At the centre of this beautiful design is the sensitive plant — named after its reflex to fold its leaves when touched or shaken — just as it is in Shelley’s poem. The poem itself describes a flower garden going through seasonal changes and the poignancy this represents.
For the Sensitive Plant has no bright flower;
Radiance and odour are not its dower;
It loves, even like Love, its deep heart is full,
It desires what it has not, the Beautiful!

Azure
Another bestseller is the gold-tooled beauty of our Azure cover. In a style known as “fanfare,” this elaborate, handcrafted pattern edged in gilt lends an antique charm with a blue twist.
The style itself dates back as far as the early 1500s and required tremendous skill on the part of the bookbinder. And because of the intricacy and expense of the beautiful goldwork, the technique was reserved for decorating only the most important books.

Olive Fairy
The enchanting scene on this cover design comes from the first edition of Scottish poet and anthropologist Andrew Lang’s The Olive Fairy Book from 1907.
Lang is best remembered for his love of folklore and fairy tales. So, it’s no surprise that his collection of fairy stories became a sensation among British schoolchildren and was sold all across the world! And it’s safe to say its popularity hasn’t waned as it stands as a firm bestseller among Paperblanks fans.
