Paperblanks Dayplanners are not what they used to be, the selection of products has gone straight down the drain since they were bought out. There used to be a wide selection of day planners now there are maybe 4 cover designs most of which are hideous things indistinguishable from the cheap “artwork” you find on tje cover of Walgreens planners. If I wanrlted something that looked like it was designed by a seven year old I could easily shop at Walgreenes or Walmart and save myself the international shipping and handling fees. It is just really sad I have been buying my planners from paperblanks for decades but I think I am going to find anothotjer brand after 2025, I pre-ordered a 2026 dayplanner back in January hoping to get the order in before the terrify took effect, and when it arrived it was nothing like what was advertised. The interior of the planner was NOT the layout I had selected, the colors were not as they appeared on the computer, the planner I ordered was supposed to be pink and blue the one I got was blue and gold, the school colours of my alma mater’s rival university. I went to Paperblanks website to order a replacement assuming that the retailer was the problem and I found that the designs that I loved so much have absolutely vanished, and been replaced with Walgreenes style designs. All of the beautiful rich colorful designs of the past are gone replaced by a handful of cheap baroque-like designs and pseudo-Monet fingerprint designs reminiscent of the Dollar Tree’s vintage artwork.

In fact, after 30 years our founders decided to retire (much deserved!) and we are thrilled that the Paperblanks brand will be able to continue with Hachette’s support. We are still the same Paperblanks you know and love, with the same quality and product teams in place – we just now have the opportunity to bring our products to even more people around the world. Does this mean that the quality of Paperblanks products will fall, because every brand that succumbs to big business gradually becomes lower in quality to meet profit expectations? I am a longtime fan of Paperblanks and am sad that you have sold out. Where will I buy my notebooks from now?

I’ve enjoyed PaperBlanks journals (and other products) for years and hope that Hachette UK will continue to use the same paper that PaperBlanks has used. Your journals have had a wonderfully special place in my life and as part of a group of Canadian fountain pen enthusiasts, who also appreciate the way the paper behaves with fountain pen inks, not “just” the breathtaking covers, we hope that this essential combination of qualities continues.
