Sometimes at the Endpaper Blog we get the unique opportunity to offer a platform to creative writers and journallers from around the world. Today, we are happy to be sharing this thought-provoking infographic from Invaluable.com, an online art auction and gallery resource. Following in the theme of Mental Health Month, Invaluable makes the case for creating and consuming art in order to increase your own creativity and memory retention.

Art can certainly help transform the aesthetic of any home. From adding a pop of colour to walls or framing your favourite painting, there’s no denying art adds creativity and uniqueness to each and every room. But did you know art has significant mental health benefits as well? That’s right, it’s not just used for decor! The act of viewing art can increase empathy and critical thinking skills. In fact, people who spent 35 minutes or more during their lunch break exploring an art gallery reported feeling less stressed.

And it’s not just viewing art, but creating too. Invaluable breaks down the benefits of art in this infographic. Physically creating a work of art can mimic the experience of meditation as well help restore focus and concentration. Creating art, like drawing, journalling, etc., is a great outlet to boost your mental well-being. It can even help improve the quality of life in dementia patients. As you can see, the benefits of art are endless. Check the below infographic for more great benefits!

  1. Hi
Like the images in the above article. Are the images in this Blog Post Free? We thought to use the images above Benefits of Art to add to our emails. We are 3 ladies working to get a local Visual Art Centre. Could you let us know if we can use whole or part of each of the two images above (red and blue)? I don’t want to subscribe regularly but will certainly be looking up your new posts
    Thanks Paddy

  2. It stood out to me when you talked about how viewing art can increase empathy and critical thinking skills. I would think that you could get more out of viewing art if you are able to understand what is going on in the piece. An art tour could be a good way to understand what you are viewing.

  3. It’s nice that you pointed out how art could certainly help transform the aesthetic of any home. I was exploring around our city yesterday and I learned that there is actually an art gallery in our area now. I’ve always been quite interested in art, so I am thinking of stopping by an art gallery later.
