Our Peek Inside… series takes a look inside peoples’ personal journals to celebrate their creativity and inspire others. Message us at facebook@hartleyandmarks.com if you have a project that you would like to be featured.
This month we asked French web comic artist Cedric (from le blog de ced) if we could take a peek inside one of his journals. See below for a very special look at one of the journals he gifts to his girlfriend every year:
Above all things my journals are gifts. Every year, at Christmas time, I give my girlfriend a journal showing our year together illustrated in comic strip form. It shows the good times and the less good as well, the funny anecdotes and memories. I put these illustrations together like you would do in a photo album, each year corresponds to a journal.
For me it’s also a way to practice and have fun at the same time. When you draw for a living like I do there is a tendency to forget why you once found pleasure in it. It reminds me that sometimes I don’t have to deal with the deadlines and specifications that work involves and that I can still have the desire to draw.
These drawings for her will never be published. Only small fragments will be seen and this is just fine with me.
All photos were taken by Claire Gontaud.
For a peek inside another one of Cedric’s journals check out his blog post Un conte de Noël.

Tell us in the comments section below – have you ever kept (or ever had the desire to keep) a relationship journal?
I love Ced’s work. Theses journals are a wonderful idea 😀
Hey there! This post couldn’t be written any better!
Reading through this post reminds me of my good old room mate!
He always kept chatting about this. I will forward
this article to him. Fairly certain he will have a good read.
Many thanks for sharing!
