Places Travelled & Place lived:
I love travelling, I think it’s essential in order to open your mind and find inspiration. My favourite countries are Scotland, England and France.
Loves:
Even though I spend much time working on the internet my passions are very much old-world! I’m fascinated with the Victorian and Edwardian eras and collect antique photographs. My favourite artists are  Pre-Raphaelite painters and I read everything written by Edgar Allan Poe. I work with both digital and film cameras, experimenting with surreal and dreamlike images.
Occupation: Web, graphic designer and photographer
Creative Works:
You can find my complete photography and digital art portfolio on my official website: http://www.debored.it
Favourite Quote:
“Be regular and ordinary in your life, like a bourgeois, that you may be violent and original in your work.” Gustave Flaubert

What would one find in the pages of your Paperblanks?
I always keep a Bleu Mini with me to store ideas for photo shoots and other journals I use to record inspiring quotes and poetry. Most of my notebooks, however, are kept for dream journals and are part of a creative project I’m working on to illustrate my dreams and nightmares with photography. The use of a dream diary is very important to improve future dream recall and to remember details.

Do you have any personal philosophies you’ve come to develop about writing, art, creation or culture?
I think art is an important part of everybody’s life as it allows not only the artists to speak their truth, but to give people a different point of view.

No matter what type of creative art you make, what or who first inspired you to make it an essential part of your life?
I don’t think one thing in particular inspired me.  I’ve always felt I had things to express and photography is the art that helps me do this.

How did you find Paperblanks?
About five years ago I decided that I needed to start keeping a dream diary. I wanted to find a special journal with a unique design and the French Ornate designs immediately caught my eye. Their brightness and refinement fit perfectly with my dream adventures – already I have filled three journals so far!

Do you have a favourite design?
I love the Paperblanks designs which recall antique and precious journals, such as Embellished ManuscriptsFrench Ornate and Romantic Sensibility. As a Poe enthusiast, I am also delighted by the Tamerlane journal!

Do you have any advice for other creative people?
Question everything, follow your passions and always have your own ideas and thoughts.
Our Artist Series features snapshots of the creative people who use our journals. From all parts of the world, and all walks of life, we celebrate the infinite number of ways in which creativity can be expressed. If you would like to have your story featured, email fmallett@hartleyandmarks.com.
