With its intricate flying buttresses and ornate religious sculptures, the Duomo di Milano represents the pinnacle of Italian Gothic architecture. Telling a story of faith and art that spans centuries, the cathedral is truly a must-see among the many sights to visit in the city of Milan. Our Spring 2026 collection has given us the opportunity to return to this iconic setting and reimagine our beloved Vault of the Milan Cathedral design in a rich new burgundy colourway.
Since its debut in Spring 2024, our Duomo di Milano series has been embraced by the Paperblanks community across the world. This enduring popularity made the introduction of a vibrant burgundy version a natural next step, offering a fresh way to experience this beloved design.
The inspiration for this design came directly from our Graphics team, with the colour itself leading the creative process. In the original release, two washi tape variants were developed for the series, one in the original blue shade and one in burgundy. When we discussed releasing a second design for Duomo di Milano, the obvious and preferred choice was to pick the beautiful burgundy shade.
We are honoured to partner with Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano to bring this example of sublime architectural vision to new eyes. Thanks to their work preserving the history of the cathedral, we can discover the unfinished works and inspirations of architects both past and present and imagine the various versions of the cathedral that were never completed.
Through this design, we hope to transport you to the sunlit streets of Milan and invite you to celebrate its architectural brilliance.
