This glorious design comes from the revered artisans at Sangorski & Sutcliffe, a world-renowned British bindery best known for their magnificent ornamented bindings.

Crafted in 1910 to house a collection of works entitled Háfiz̤ of Shíráz: Selections from His Poems, the beautiful binding reproduced here features three stunningly bejewelled peacocks, each inlaid in eight different colours and embellished with foliage and gold tooling. The binding itself is set with pearls and 33 opals that lend it an unparalleled opulence.

Established in London in 1901, Sangorski & Sutcliffe quickly rose to become one of the 20th century’s most important bookbinding firms, famous for jewelled bindings like Omar Khayyam’s Rubaiyat and Rudyard Kipling’s “Recessional,” and for their use of real gold in the cover details.

We hope the beauty of this exquisite design inspires you to create something just as extraordinary in your everyday.

Hafiz’s Peacocks is available as a hardcover journal, pencil case, bookmark, and canvas bag.
