Staff Pick of the Month is a regular feature where we ask a Paperblanks employee how they contribute to the team, what their favourite Paperblanks book is, and what they use their book for.
Q: What do you do at Paperblanks?
I work as the Media & Communications Manager for the Paperblanks US Sales team, as well as for the Marketing team based in Vancouver, Canada. Basically I do a lot of the communications for the company and help to initiate marketing and PR programs in North America, primarily. 
Q: What is your favourite Paperblanks journal?
The Safavid Storage Box is actually my favourite Paperblanks item. The craftsmanship put into it is just stunning – it’s hard to believe that it’s made completely from paper! I don’t think there’s anything out there quite like it, it’s such a special object that is derived from the techniques used in book making, but transformed into a beautiful storage box.
Q: What is your Paperblanks Journal used for?
My husband and I had a long-distance relationship for over a year and during that time would often send letters, drawings and all sort of other paper ephemera back and forth to each other. All of this is so special to me, and the Safavid Storage Box just seemed like the perfect place to store these exchanges.
Q: In your opinion what is the best thing about Paperblanks journals?
Definitely the quality of the books and the ingenuity of the designs. I also appreciate the philosophy put into the craft and the making of each book. There really is a spiritual consideration put into the designs and a respect for the book as object of art.
Why are these no longer available? They’re so nice.

Unfortunately there wasn’t enough demand to keep the accordion boxes as part of our core collection, but we do sometimes bring back discontinued items and will make a note of your interest!
