The Great Gatsby author makes a good point – excessive exclamation point use can end up undermining your writing. But what if a period is equally as unsatisfactory and a question mark just won’t do? Can there really be so few ways to end your sentence?
Over the years, there have been a variety of alternative punctuation marks proposed to express the subtleties of irony, sarcasm and even authority. While they haven’t all caught on, the thirteen below may just offer that extra “oomph” your writing has been lacking.
