A Frida Kahlo self-portrait is instantly recognisable, thanks to her accurate rendering of her own sizable and distinctive eyebrows. And while th0se may be her most famous paintings, Kahlo’s art was not limited to the autobiographical.

In these reprints of one of Kahlo’s own diaries, we see the artist’s mind at work as she plays with words and vibrant colours in her creative expression. A full ten years of her thoughts and drawings can be found in Carlos Fuentes’ beautiful hardcover book, The Diary of Frida Kahlo: An Intimate Self-Portrait.
