Currently hosting the 2014 Berlinale Film Festival, the city of Berlin is a cultural hotspot the whole year round. Whether Berlin is your hometown or you’re just visiting, this German city’s famous “under the rails” bookstore, Bücherbogen, is not to be missed by any art lover.
Located in the centre of West Berlin’s Knesebeckstraße (known as the city’s “books mile”), the Bücherbogen Savignyplatz is known for its selection of books on art, architecture, photography and design. No wonder it is Karl Lagerfeld’s favourite bookshop to visit! While this store may not be as fancy as some others that we have profiled in our Beautiful Bookstores series, its selection of books and manuscripts (many of them signed!) certainly sets it at the top of its class.
Have you visited a beautiful bookstore? Let us know your favourite example of literary art and architecture, and we may profile it in our Beautiful Bookstores series!
