Our Peek Inside… series takes a look inside people’s personal journals to celebrate their imagination and inspire others. Send us an email if you have a project that you would like to be featured.

This month we get an insider’s view into Lizzie’s Paperblanks journals of her urban explorations:

My work revolves around psychogeography, which is exploring urban places in new ways. I did a drawing challenge in London a few years ago. It got onto BBC which was awesome – 50 London locations in 24 hours on a Boris Bike. You can check it out here.

I’m always trying to record something new, whether architecturally, emotionally, or simply drawing something that most people don’t see.

With my big murals I always chart them out in my diary first. I sketch them so I know in my head what I’m doing.

I love going to cities and walking around. Here’s some of my sketchbooks from Seville.

  1. There is a beautiful dreamlike quality about these drawings as if Aubrey Beardsley and Salvador Dali have somehow been blended in space-time and out has popped Lizzie Mary Cullen!

    • Wow, you are right! That’s a fairly perfect combination to describe Lizzie’s work. Check out the blog in the New Year for even more work from this very talented artist.
