Every year since 1992 Montblanc has released a new exquisitely crafted writing instrument that pays tribute to a literary icon. Outside of their obvious beauty they very thoughtfully pay tribute the authors. Depicted above is their 1998 entry: the Edgar Allan Poe edition, with, as Montblanc’s website details, “an 18-karat gold nib [that] has a delicate engraving of the raven from Poe’s famous poem.” (Other details not visible in the picture: a gold-coloured signature inscribed on the cap and Victorian ornamentation decorating the gold-plated ring under the clip.)
