What would one find in the pages of your Paperblanks journal?
While preparing for a film role I make a lot of notes, so my journal is full of moodboards and memos.

Do you have any specific themes that you continually refer back to in your work?
A big theme for me as an actress is naturalness and credibility! There are a lot of scripts and actors whom I don’t believe a single word. I don’t want to be a liar, and sometimes it’s hard work to become natural, but credibility is always one of my biggest goals.

Who first inspired you to make your art an essential part of your life?
My parents. I was a pretty creative kid who started storytelling at about 5 years old. My dad would type out the stories that I’d dictate to him and my mom would do handcrafts with me. At school my teachers always encouraged me to go in the acting direction.  When I was about 10 years old I played my first big role on the stage and knew then that I wanted to become a professional actress!  And so I did. I think it’s essential for artists to be encouraged by their family and friends and I’m grateful that my parents supported me.

How did you find Paperblanks?

I
n my first year as an acting student I wanted to find a notebook where I could keep all of my newspaper clippings and pictures. I found a book with beautiful Shakespeare handwriting on the cover and found it was perfect for me. This notebook was a Paperblanks.

What sets Paperblanks apart from other journals you’ve used?
The beautiful and creative covers.

Do you have a favorite Paperblanks design?
At the moment I like the simple designs such as the Back Pocket Design. Furthermore I love the Embellished Manuscripts. It’s so interesting to see the handwriting of these creative and inspiring masterminds!

Do you have any advice for other creative people?
Do whatever you want to do and don’t care about people’s expectations! If you stay true to yourself you’re on the right path.

  1. I’m so into drawing in my journals that it is refreshing when I find someone who writes, lol! Carola has beautiful penmanship, and an obvious innate feeling for layout. I hope to see her on stage or in the movies some day.
