As big proponents of treating the book as an art object this definitely got our attention: book origami!
These books are created by Isaac Salazar, who basically takes old, used books and, through intensive origami folding and hand cutting, turns them into word sculptures.
The choice of words and symbols, and the work itself, are meant to inspire and encourage, but Salazar has also mentioned another goal that echos one of our own values:
“If my work also makes people look at a book and even art in a new light then the piece has done its job.”
Check out some of the photos we’ve gathered below, but definitely head over to Salazar’s Flickr stream for a more comprehensive collection of photos.
