This should be interesting to anyone who shares our passions for notebook-culture and history’s great artists and minds: a peek inside Leonardo da Vinci’s notebook from the early 1840’s! NPR’s Krulwich Wonders blog gives us just such a peak in an article about a new book on Leonardo by Toby Lester.
The article has a sample To Do List from Leonardo and describes his notebooking process:
Leonardo used to travel with a small notebook hanging from his belt, and “whenever something caught his eye,” he would make a note, or begin “sketching furiously.”
And the most fascinating insight the article gives us about Da Vinci? It shows us just how curious and fascinated he was about the world. His writings show tics of “a very hungry mind.”
