Mozart

Today marks the 255th birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791). Mozart was one of the most popular and prolific composers of the Classical era of Western music. A writing notebook in our Embellished Manuscripts Collection, a series of journals that portray the work of some of the greatest writers, thinkers and artists of all time, reproduces an excerpt from Mozart’s original score for La Chasse, or “The Hunt.”

Passion, Rapture and Profound Serenity

More than two hundred years after his death, Mozart’s musical compositions continue to inspire people from all walks of life. With their power to simultaneously invoke passion, rapture and profound serenity, these technically brilliant creations have a universal appeal and exert an effortless hold over their listeners.

Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria, in 1756. His musical talent as a child prodigy entranced audiences who were deeply moved by the magical, inspiring opera, piano concertos, symphonies, string quartets and string quintets, influencing an untold number of composers and musicians.

The piece of ballet music on our journal cover for Mozart, The Hunt is entitled La Chasse (KV 300 [299d]), which means hunting or chasing. It is believed to have been composed in Paris in 1778. Chasing and hunting themes with an erotic subtext were popular in ballet and pantomime performances of the time, which typically featured shepherds, shepherdesses and cupid frolicking together.

    • Hi Alfonso,

Unfortunately, our Mozart, The Hunt journals with musical staves were a limited run format and are now out of print. Depending on your local retailers’ selections, we do offer a lined interior in the Ultra, Midi and Mini formats.

      All the best,
      The Paperblanks® Team

      • I’m really sad that you have discontinued the musical staves option – would be great if Paperblanks could do this format again… looks like I have to move to another company for now :-(
